Thanks for the example. However a couple of points. You use a timer object to change the characters to asterisks, the problem here is that timer objects have a background thread associated so it limits the scaleability of the textbox as each one has its own timer. Second and related is that the timer task updates the UI and this should only be done from the event dispatch thread. Fortunately it's each to fix, just get rid of the timer and use UiApplication.getUiApplication().invokeLater(tt, 1000, false); to schedule the task on the event dispatch thread.
